This week is music: Nickelodeon stars bring 'Summer Break Tour' to Mpls.

After One Direction and a reunion tour for the New Kids on the Block, the boy bands aren't through coming to Minneapolis just yet.

Big Time Rush is stopping in the Twin Cities this week at Target Center Saturday on their Summer Break Tour 2013, along with their Nickelodeon Channel pal Victoria Justice.

The members of Big Time Rush -- Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena and Logan Henderson -- have starred on the Nickelodeon series "Big Time Rush" since 2009, and Victoria Justice starred as Tori in "Victorious" from 2010 to this year.

Like One Direction, Pittsburgh got plenty loud for Big Time Rush, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Scott Mervis wrote in a review of the singers' tour stop last month.

"As you can probably guess, the scream meter went louder for One Direction -- who were first-timers here -- but the Nickelodeon boys got their share of mad love as well," Mervis wrote.

The critic add that while Big Time Rush doesn't have "a Harry Styles-level heartthrob, you could make the argument that BTR had the better show as well."

Mervis said Justice had her shortcomings, but was mostly up to the task at hand.

"She's more natural as a comic actress than singer and performer, and she got winded quickly, but she was fine as an opener with up-tempo songs like 'Freak the Freak Out,' 'Best Friend's Brother' and her cover of Iconopop's 'I Love It,'" Mervis said.

The Sun Chronicle also lauded the Summer Break Tour's stop in Manfield, Mass., in June, saying Big Time Rush with Justice opening "was nothing short of a teen dream extravaganza."

Also coming to Minnesota in concert this week:

Vampire Weekend plays the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis Monday.

The Rock 'N' Blues Fest plays the Music in the Zoo series at the Weesner Amphitheatre at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley Wednesday, featuring '60s and '70s stars 10 Years After, the Edgar Winter Band, Canned Heat, Rick Derringer and Pat Travers.
