MN Children's Museum opening up for adults-only fun tonight

No kids allowed.

Admit it, it's always kind of bugged you that the Minnesota Children's Museum (with its awesome exhibits, including a laser maze) is for... well, children.

Well, the folks who run the place apparently feel that way too, because they're opening it up for an evening of adults-only fun on Thursday night.

Adults@Play, described as a "21+ takeover" of the Children's Museum, kicks off at 6 p.m. and goes until 10. And yes, kids are not allowed.

Grownups, however, will be allowed into a bunch of the new exhibits that arrived with the museum's recent renovation

That includes "The Scramble," a four-story climbing structure featuring two towers, a long spiral slide, and a netted catwalk that's 40 feet off the ground. Other attractions adults can access are "Forces at Play," with its "air-powered ping pong ball launchers," and the aforementioned laser maze.

There's also a number of activities "designed to ignite creativity," including interactive improv and "make-and-take" art projects hosted by Can Can Wonderland, the massive, arty mini-golf complex in St. Paul.

Oh, and the best part? There's a cash bar and food, too.

The only bummer is that they stopped selling the cheaper pre-sale tickets last week, so passes to the event are $12 for museum members and $17 for non-members.

You can buy tickets right here.

New and improved Children's Museum

Last December, the museum entered an ambitious renovation that closed it down for months while construction crews gave the site a makeover

But the project hit some snags. Originally scheduled to reopen in April, officials had to push the opening back to June because the contractor working on The Scramble went out of business.

In 2015, the museum was ranked one of the best of its kind in the U.S., coming in 15th in the Top 25 Best American Children's Museums list.
