Minnesota sports fans are about to see a lot more of Kate Emmer on Fox Sports North.
The regional sports network announced Friday that Emmer, a native of Delano, Minnesota, has been hired full-time.
If Emmer looks familiar it's probably because you've seen her on a few Twins broadcasts over the last month and a half, and she was also part of FSN's Hockey Day Minnesota coverage.
She says she'll be on TV a lot more in the coming weeks in addition to having a big presence on social media.
The 23-year-old is the daughter of U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer, the Republican congressman in Minnesota's 6th district, and grew up with six brothers who all played hockey.
Emmer, herself, played three sports growing up and just recently graduated from St. Cloud State University, where she was a studio host and reporter for SCSU Sports Network and a rink-side reporter for Huskies hockey.
In May, Emmer was named the winner of the 2018 Jim Nantz Award, which recognizes the top collegiate sports broadcaster in the country. She's the first woman to ever win the award.
