Trampled by Turtles releasing tunes from First Avenue gigs on DVD, CD

Duluth indie bluegrass group Trampled by Turtles is readying the release of a DVD and album of tunes recorded during their First Avenue 10th anniversary gigs last April, the Star Tribune reports.

Aptly titled "Live at First Avenue," the recordings will be available in couple different packaged deals on Nov. 12.

Options include a $35 bundle package for a vinyl LP, or $30 for a CD. Both bundles include a DVD of tunes pulled from the three-night stand at the iconic Minneapolis club, as well as a 64-page book of photos from the shows. The items can also be purchased separately.

The LP and CD will each include 11 tracks, and the DVD will showcase eight additional songs not included in the audio recordings.

Bluegrass news site Cybergrass says the concert will also air on the cable channel Palladia multiple times starting about a week before the release, and continue to air for about the next year.

Despite their surging national popularity, Trampled by Turtles have played Minnesota frequently over the past year, including a show in their hometown of Duluth in June, then the Midwest Music Showcase at Target Field in mid-August.

At the end of the August, Trampled by Turtles was one of the local bands featured at the MN Music-on-a-Stick concert at the Minnesota State Fair.
