TripAdvisor lists the Twin Cities as a top destination for solo travelers

Greenery and museums make it a great weekend break for singles.

If you're flying solo, then you should consider making a beeline for the Twin Cities.

That's the view of travel review site TripAdvisor, which includes Minneapolis-St. Paul in its list of the "15 Best Places to Travel Alone in America."

The Twin Cities makes the list because it offers "a city break with a difference."

It lists the 60 museums and galleries dotted around the metro area ("the Science Museum is a must-see), but also highlights its abundance of green spaces.

It's these green spaces that led to Minneapolis being recently named as having the best city parks in the country, a fact TripAdvisor mentions before giving shout outs to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the ski slopes of Buck Hill in Burnsville.

It's not the only nearby destination that features on the list, with TripAdvisor readers also advised to consider a trip to Bayfield in Wisconsin.

About a 90-minute driver from the northeastern Minnesota border, Bayfield is a place to "immerse yourself in nature," the site says, recommending visitors take a kayak or paddle border to explore the famous Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and sea caves.

It also suggests a trip to Stockton Island, on Lake Superior, and the circus tent events held at Big Top Chauauqua.
