You'll be familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of Travel Tuesday?
The day after Cyber Monday, this year falling on Nov. 27, it features the best deals you will see all year on air travel all year, writes Twice The Baggage.
Historically, travelers have seen savings of up to 40-50 percent off flights on this one day alone!
We've taken a look at what offers we've found so far, and how to find the best deal on Travel Tuesday.
What drives Travel Tuesday?
It is quite simple: supply and demand. Most travelers have already booked their holiday/New Year travel, so airlines see this as an opportunity to strike great deals since demand is down.
They would rather you book a less expensive flight than no flight at all!
So far, Icelandair, Cathay Pacific, South African Airways, and Philippines Airlines have commented saying they are prepared to have great deals come November 27.
If history has taught us anything, many more airlines are expecting to hop on board (pun intended). We are excited to see Icelandair on that list as we have only had great experiences!
What kind of deals can I expect?
Hopper.com, which is able to predict flight prices with 95 percent accuracy, recently gave some of the deals that you will find on November 27.
Las Vegas trips had an average nationwide price of $184 (down 34 percent). Hopping over the pond into Tokyo is expected to be down 40 percent to a nationwide average of just $534! Now, if this doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will.
Getting the best price is easy:
- Don’t have exact travel dates. Be flexible with your date range. Often times you will be able to get a steal of a deal departing in the middle of the week or early in the morning. Twice The Baggage recommends using Google Flights to find the least expensive fares. You will have the ability to filter almost everything down to your liking: airline, fare class, baggage, time of day etc. Google will do the rest for you in finding the cheapest fare.
- Get up early! It is expected that the deals are going to start getting hit hard around 6:30 am ET, and peak around 9:30 am ET. Don’t worry, if you are not an early riser, some deals will last all day!
- Don’t waver in your decision. If you see a cheap flight that you are willing to pay for, book it! With so many eyeballs trying to book flights over the holidays, dynamic pricing will be constantly fluctuating. It is better to know that you have something booked rather than waiting and hoping.
If you plan on vacationing in the next few months, wait to book until November 27. Bloggers and frequent travelers alike take this day seriously, as we at Twice The Baggage are looking to score us a deal on that day as well. See you bright and early!
