In general, travel and booking flights are bunched into three different season: off-season, peak season, and shoulder season, writes Twice The Baggage.
Recently, we featured the top flights from MSP in the off-season to Europe, the period covering November through March.
Shoulder season refers to the period between April to mid-June, when flights can still be bought for half the price during the busier months.
So if you're considering a springtime getaway to Europe, we have some suggestions that may be too hard to pass up when they're this cheap!
We've found a number of destinations that, during shoulder season, can cost less than $500 per person, round trip, and out of MSP International.
*Note that all prices below are the lowest price we found for a one week vacation out of MSP International during the shoulder season. As such, prices will vary depending on the time of booking, airline, vacation length, and what days you're traveling.

TTB will be heading to Dublin ourselves in May 2019, just a bit after offseason. Our bucket list includes Guinness tour, Temple Bar, and a trip to the Cliffs of Moher. I think it’s safe to say we will spend most of our time in a pub listening to live music, but we hear there is great hiking!

Cathedrals, art galleries, and open Scottish air, what more could you want? Spend the day exploring all the nooks and crannies Glasgow has to offer. Zurich was hands down one of the most expensive destinations TTB has traveled to. However; a less expensive flight helps ease that pain. Zurich is a beautiful city to wander the streets of, but be sure to spend a bit of time looking over Lake Zurich from outside the opera house. TTB recommends taking a day trip to the Swiss Alps, we went up Mount Titlis.
TTB Pro Tip: Zurich has 1,200 water fountains throughout the city. Bring your reusable water bottle and save some money!
Price per ticket from MSP: $384 on United, Swiss, RT, two stops
Head to the capital of Sweden that encompasses 14 different islands. TTB is excited for this deal as we are headed there in May ourselves and will have so much more first hand knowledge to bring our readers. We’re excited for Stortoget, which is one of the oldest squares in the city. Also, each metro stop is decorated beautifully and we cannot wait for the photo opportunities.
TTB Tip: Read up on the beautiful subway art from The Blonde Abroad!
Price per ticket from MSP: $367 on Air Canada, Brussels, RT, two-stops
The capital of Norway is another destination TTB is headed to in May. Oslo is known for having an abundance of green spaces as well as museums. Be sure to head to Holmenkollen, an iconic ski jump with the oldest ski museum. TTB highly recommends checking out the fjords of Bergen, Norway. You’ll have to plan for the 6 1/2 hour train ride, but they are well worth the visit.

TTB will be in Amsterdam in February and we are excited for exploring the canals and biking the city. However; if you head during shoulder season you MUST take a trip to Keukenhof Gardens. Keukenhof Gardens are located south of Amsterdam, so rent a car and take the 30 minute drive to see the largest grouping of tulips you will ever see.
Price per ticket from MSP: $326 on Air Canada, RT, one-stop
Spend some time relaxing in Copenhagen. Learn the true meaning of hygge, bike around the city, play in Tivoli gardens, and drink delicious coffee in Nyhavn. As we do anywhere else, take a free walking tour to get your barriers and learn the cultural norms. The fun fact we learned during this tour was that there are roughly 3 bikes per resident in Copenhagen. Yes, bikes outnumber the people.
