Twins born in different decades at Minnesota hospital
One of the most unusual New Year arrivals came at a Carver County hospital, where a pair of twins were born in different decades.
Melissa and Ben Mase, of Cologne, Minnesota, welcomed their newborns 17 minutes apart at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Those 17 minutes however happened to include the moment a new decade started.
George Winton was born at 11:44 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2019, and his sister Remi James followed at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020.
SW NewsMedia reports that the babies were born at 35 weeks, and delivered naturally, with the delivering physician Dr. Dennis Mohling.
As they were born early, they are both in the Neonatal Care Unit (NCU), but are doing well.
The hospital says that it finished 2019 with a record number of births with 1,345.
