Two Minnesota locations are among the 31 stores being closed by fashion chain Express this month.
The retailer announced on Wednesday it will be closing 100 stores between now and 2022, with the first raft of 31 stores to close by the end of this month.
It's since been confirmed that these closures including two in Minnesota: at Eden Prairie Center and at Burnsville Center.
It means that, for now, Express' 12 other Minnesota locations are safe from closure.
Express has other stores at malls including the Mall of America, Southdale, Rosedale and Ridgedale Center, as well as factory outlets at Albertville and the Twin Cities Premium Outlets in Eagan.
The chain announced the store closures as part of its effort to slash $80 million in costs.
The next 35 stores earmarked for closure will shutter at the end of January 2021. They haven't been publicly announced yet. A further 34 will follow by 2022, while 9 already closed at the end of last year.
Twin Cities Business notes that both Burnsville Center and Eden Prairie Center have the second and third highest vacancy rates among metro area malls – behind only Southdale Center.
Both have seen retailers including Sears and Payless shutter in recent years.
