Union Hmong Kitchen to take up residency at Republic
The Republic bar and restaurant in Minneapolis' West Bank will soon have a new resident culinary team - Union Hmong Kitchen.
Featuring award-winning chef Yia Vang, Union Hmong Kitchen will begin the residency Oct. 23 and run until Vang's new restaurant concept, Vinai, opens in mid-spring.
Along with a new brunch offering, the menu is set to include "Khao Poon Noodle Soup, Hmong Hot Dish, and fan-favorite Fried Chicken Sandwich, in addition to a daily Pho special," according to a press release.
"We’re excited to move into a larger kitchen, which gives us room to grow and experiment," Vang said in a statement. "In addition to expanding our Union Hmong Kitchen specials, we’ll cook our unique take on classic Minnesota bar food to pair with Republic’s awesome beer selection—items like spicy chicken wings and a special burger. We’re keeping Republic’s famous french fries—now just serving them with cilantro aioli!”
The Union Hmong Kitchen's current residency at Sociable Cider Works will end Oct 11. With the move to a larger space, Vang says he plans on also launching his new catering operation, Vinai Gatherings, ahead of his restaurant set to open mid-spring 2021.
Republic offers take-out, delivery and reservations for a socially-distanced dining room and a private balcony.
