Red's Savoy Pizza is changing its name, for the next several days at least.

The famous Minnesota pizza chain, home of the 'Sota Style Pizza, is changing its name to "Maroon and Gold Savoy Pizza."

If you don't know why, where have you been the past few months? The temporary name change is in honor of the 10-1 Minnesota Golden Gophers as they prepare for arguably the biggest game in their history, as they welcome the Wisconsin Badgers to TCF Bank Stadium this Saturday.

With the Badgers playing in red, the pizza makers decided, "after not much thought, and very little deliberation" to switch things up.

It's also launched some specials along with the slogan, "Tell Bucky to Buck Off," in reference to Wisconsin's mascot, Bucky Badger.

The pizza makers have said that the stunt will continue until at least Saturday, but may stay until the following week if the Gophers win and play Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship game.

"We’ve been serving pizza ‘Sota Style’ since 1965," Red's Savoy president Reed Daniels said. "And this week in Minnesota, well, let’s just say maroon and gold sounds and looks a lot better than anything red."

"To make sure Maroon & Gold Savoy Pizza does indeed roll off the tongue of customers, we will be offering multiple Gopher inspired specials," he added.
