A popular winter attraction is up and running in Stillwater.
The Ice Castles – which used to be in Eden Prairie – opened for the season on Friday, right next to the St. Croix River.
Ice Castles Director of Event Operations Amanda Roseth told GoMN the whole project started one month ago with a single icicle.
Since then, dozens of workers have been growing 10,000 icicles a day and hand-placing them to form a castle. Now, Roseth says it's almost an acre in size.
Roseth recommends buying tickets online ahead of time to make sure you get in – there is a limit on how many people can be in there at once. You can get your tickets here.
Ice Castles officials hope to keep it open through the first week in March, but say it all depends on the weather.
