Videos of Minnesotans shoveling snow in ice skates have gone viral
If you tried shoveling this week, you'll know that it proved trickier than usual in many places thanks to the layers of ice hidden beneath the snow.
Step forward Josh Hagemeyer, of Maple Grove, who found an obvious answer to the icy conditions – throwing on a pair of skates.
The video shows him making snow shoveling seem effortless as he glides up and down his driveway with a shovel in hand.
"Best ice I've skated in a while," he joked.
His video was shared on Facebook on Tuesday, where it has since been viewed more than 250,000 times.
"My skates just happened to be in my truck in the driveway and it was too convenient not to give it a try," he told Bring Me The News on Thursday.
"The layer on ice on the driveway was perfect and I figured I would probably never get to try it again. I was surprised it worked without breaking through the thin layer of ice. It was safer than shoveling in my boots!"
Hagemeyer's not the only one using the skates solution to icy driveways.
