The celebration of the best of British advertising is returning to the Walker Art Center for its 33rd year.
The British Arrows Awards will launch at the Walker on Friday, Nov. 29 and run until Sunday, Dec. 29.
There will be no fewer than 95 screenings of the 72-minute compilation of ads from across the Atlantic, with the Walker saying this year's offering is an "eclectic mix of riveting mini-dramas, high-tech extravaganzas, wacky comedy, and vital public service announcements."
The British Arrows has become a fixture on the holiday calendar in the Twin Cities, with organizers picking out some of the most clever TV and online commercials created for U.K. audiences, some for brands Americans are familiar with, some not.
There are several theme nights planned during the Arrows season, including "Brits Night" on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., when KFAI DJ Simon Husbands (himself a Brit) providing the music.
Then there will be a "Contemporaries Holiday Party" on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m., when pub fare and pints will be offered for $30 tickets.
Regular tickets to see the show are $14, and $11.20 for Walker members. Each ticket includes admission to the Walker Art Center gallery, and $10 off a new Walker membership, and $5 off at the Walker Art Center shop on purchases over $25.
Those who sign up for a Walker Art Center membership can get two free tickets to the British Arrows.
