Want to try the new Xbox One X? Head to this Best Buy

One Twin Cities store is the only place in Minnesota offering demos.

A Twin Cities Best Buy will be the only place in the state to try out the new Xbox console several weeks before its release.

Maple Grove's Best Buy at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes will be one of just 20 U.S. locations hosting demonstrations of the Xbox One X starting this weekend.

Best Buy says it is the first retailer to offer such Xbox demos, which will continue on four other weekends during the fall (though exact dates and times for those later demonstrations have yet to be announced).

Demos will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Best Buy announced.

Letting gamers test-drive the new Xbox is just one of the myriad ways in which Best Buy is striking back at online competitors like Amazon, who have eaten away at the big box store's sales for years now.

Other initiatives include a new "In-Home Advisor" service and Oculus Rift demos, among others – and a recent Markets Insider report says the efforts may actually be paying off.

About the Xbox One X

First, let's tackle the burning question that every gamer in the world will have.

The Xbox One X will retail for $499, but considering it's "the world's most powerful console," as developer Microsoft describes it, that might be a bargain.

The system, which was first unveiled at the E3 gaming convention in June, is basically a super-charged version of the Xbox One – which itself is the eighth generation of the Xbox console.

Because the One X has "a faster processor" and "more memory," the Verge explains, it has the ability to enhance both new and existing Xbox games.
