Watch: Plow filled with salt slides down icy road in Bloomington

It's been that type of day in the Twin Cities.
Publish date:

Feeling a little helpless sliding around the ice on streets, sidewalks and driveways today?

You're not alone. A plow truck loaded with road salt couldn't handle the slippery conditions on a side street in Bloomington and Caravan Vet caught it on camera as it happened.

Fortunately, there weren't any cars parked along the side of the road so the plow didn't slam into anything but a small snowbank.

Road conditions have been brutal in the metro all day Monday as a result of freezing rain that moved through Sunday night and Monday morning.

Travel could become quite difficult again Tuesday as accumulating snow impacts the metro, and again late Wednesday and all day Thursday as another snowstorm moves through.

Meanwhile there have been dozens of admissions to Twin Cities hospitals after people had slipped and fallen on ice.

KARE 11's Danny Spewak says that both Hennepin County Medical Center and Mercy Hospital have both had 40-plus patients receiving treatment for ice-related slips, falls and crashed.
