Winona Ryder has been talking about how it felt to return to her hometown of Winona, Minnesota.
The "Stranger Things" and "Edward Scissorhands" actor was back in Winona earlier this month, shooting a commercial for website building and hosting company Squarespace.
The ad will air during this year's Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, with Winona getting some spotlight before hundreds of millions of viewers.
Her appearance in Winona sparked a lot of attention from the locals, who headed downtown to catch a glimpse of the Oscar-nominated star.
Squarespace issued a teaser video about her visit this week, featuring some comments not only from Ryder but from some of the local residents confused as to why she was in town.
But it looks as though Ryder was also filmed at Bryant-Lake Bowl in Minneapolis, giving rise to the prospect that some of the Twin Cities will feature in the ad too, given that a film crew was seen at Mickey's Diner in St. Paul around the time she was in Winona.
"Getting to come to Winona, the town I was born in, you walk down the street and it's almost like being in another time, but also modern," Ryder says.
She went on to describe how her mom decided to name her after the city because she saw a pamphlet in a local laundromat about "the legend of Winona."
"She picked it up, which I think induced her labor, of me," Ryder said.
"I think Winona represents a lot of towns that have a lot going on, and a lot of creative energy and great places, and I'm excited to see Squarespace be interested in those small spaces. I think it's a really cool project."
