Perhaps you've seen the work of Scottish filmmaker Ryan McHenry. He's the man behind the "Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal" meme; sadly, McHenry died Monday at the age of 27 after a two-year battle with osteosarcoma.

McHenry's meme went viral after its creation in 2013 and entertained audiences worldwide. Apart from unintentionally providing the perfect setup of facial expressions and mouth-shielding scarf maneuvers, Gosling had no direct involvement with the series, The Guardian notes.

Gosling took to Twitter after learning of McHenry's passing.

In addition to the kind words, the actor paid McHenry a final tribute – in the form of a Vine.

After more than two years, Ryan Gosling ate his cereal.
