These guys went to a 7-movie, 20-hour 'Star Wars' marathon – here's how it went

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" made a ton of money Thursday night in its debuts across the U.S.

And some super fans opted to spend the entire lead-up at the Rosedale AMC theater, marathoning all of the previous six "Star Wars" films (in story order).

It started at 1 a.m. with "The Phantom Menace," and went all the way through "The Force Awakens" and that film's 7 p.m. start time – a solid 20-plus hours.

Tyler Bancroft and Travis Strickland, both 31, went for the whole thing – and were nice enough to give BringMeTheNews a rundown as the movies went along. (Spoilers: They got tired sometimes.)

How are you feeling on a scale of 1-10?

Tyler Bancroft: 10

Bancroft said he's excited to see the original trilogy in a movie theater, and for "The Force Awakens" has avoided trailers. "Super-pumped" is the word he used.

Travis Strickland: 7-8

Like Bancroft, Strickland is looking forward to the original three films on the big screen. Though the lack of sleep by the time the new film comes "may be a problem, but I'm more than willing to go again."

Episode I: The Phantom Menace – 1 a.m.

Thoughts on the film: "The movie was better than I remember but still worse than I'd like."

How I'm feeling right now: "I'm feeling I'm at like a 6 right now. I'm definitely crashing in energy. It also doesn't help I think the next movie is the least entertaining."

Thoughts on the film: "This movie was okayer than I remember. I originally saw it when I was 14 or so. It seemed more exciting then, of course."

How I'm feeling right now: "I'm probably around a 7. Slightly sleepy, but I'll probably sneak a nap through half of 'Attack of the Clones.' I don't really need to hear about how coarse sand is."

Episode II: Attack of the Clones – 3:30 a.m.

Thoughts on the film: "This was actually better than I remembered. Except the incredibly terrible early exchanges between Padme and Anakin, that was much much worse than I recalled. It was so hard to watch and the theater was heckling."

How I'm feeling right now: "I'm currently feeling around a 5 or so. I'm incredibly tired, much more so than I expected. I'm curious after episode three and a break what it'll be like as it'll be normal daytime again. My one word for my experience at the moment is, old. I feel old."

Thoughts on the film: "This movie was worse than I remember. The least liked of the lesser liked trilogy. Audience making snide comments through most of it, generally directed at Anakin. Fell asleep the last 15 minutes."

How I'm feeling right now: "5. Headache. Very tired. Theater seats not conducive to sleeping." One word to describe how Travis is feeling at this moment: "Buh."

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith – 6:15 a.m.

Thoughts on the film: "I unfortunately slept in my car for the first hour and missed all of General Grievous but this one was much better than I remembered."

How I'm feeling right now: "I'm currently back to like an 8. I've gone outside and seen daylight and am currently waiting on tasty pancakes. Coming up next is the original trilogy which is what I was most excited for and I'm starting to feel more awake."

Thoughts on the film: "Just as good as I remember. At least the second half after I woke up. I'm still quite exhausted, but they're about to do trivia for prizes. After which, Tyler and Tom [another friend at the marathon] are going to get breakfast while I sleep in our seats."

How I'm feeling right now: "Sitting at about a 6 right now. Looking forward to the [original trilogy], but very tired. Four movies left and still 13ish hours to go in this theater."

Episode IV: A New Hope –10:15 a.m.

Thoughts on the film: "The opening shot of the Star Destroyer was pretty awesome and although the audio wasn't as impressive as the new movie it still was impressive to hear/feel Darth Vader's breath."

Thoughts on the film: "As usual, I can't make it through ['A New Hope'] without falling asleep. ... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it, but I think I've seen it one too many times late at night and I've conditioned myself to fall asleep during. Feeling super tired, but awake somehow."

How I'm feeling right now: "No idea where I'm going to sneak more sleep in now since I love 'Empire' and 'Jedi' is pretty good, as well. Obviously no sleeping during 'Force Awakens.' Ah well."

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – 12:45 p.m.

Thoughts on the film: "'Empire Strikes Back' was absolutely amazing to see in the theater. That was exactly what I wanted out of this marathon, to see the old ones on the big screen."

How I'm feeling right now: "I am at a 9 right now and feel like we're getting closer to the new movie. I'd be a 10 but my [butt] is giving out. ... Super excited for ep. 6 and can't believe it's gonna be ep. 7 after that."

Thoughts on the film: "As fantastic as always. Getting more excited as we get closer. Only four hours away from 'Force Awakens.'"

How I'm feeling right now: "10 Hour Energy was consumed before this one started (it was disgusting). Hype level 8. Sleepy level 11/10."

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – 3:15 p.m.

Thoughts on the film: "Er mer gerd, ster wers! This was definitely better than I remembered but not quite as good as #5."

How I'm feeling right now: "I am 100 percent awake now and feel like the next hour is gonna take a very long time."

Thoughts on the film: "Hour and a half [until the new film]. 'Jedi' is finished. So sleepy, but so friggin jazzed. I actually didn't sleep at all through 'Jedi.'"

How I'm feeling right now: "Kind of concerned with the level of tiredness. Hopefully there will be enough energy in the theater to keep us all awake through ['The Force Awakens']."

Episode VII: The Force Awakens – 7 p.m.

Thoughts on the film: "Unbelievable. I am blown away." Follow-up message: "I am absolutely smitten with 'The Force Awakens.' It's a new direction for the franchise and it's perfectly executed."

How I'm feeling right now: "The one word I have for my current state of mind is easily, overwhelmed and I can't wait to go back and see the movie again."

Would you do a marathon again? "So my overall experience is that I realized around the end of Episode 3 that I would never do another marathon like this, but ultimately I am incredibly happy that I did it and loved the experience. I just feel too old to do it now. ... Another reason I would hesitate in the future to do an event like this is that I have a three year old son and another kid on the way so it wasn't something I experienced on my own but rather this also removed me from my family for two days."

Thoughts on the film: "Holy crap. I want more. I completely enjoyed it. It felt like 'Star Wars,' but it was pretty much go go go from the start. Picture the adrenaline rush of seeing the Death Star trench run for the first time, now extend that to the majority of a two-hour movie."

How I'm feeling right now: "I'll definitely be seeing it again in theaters, but not in 3-D. Motion is too blurry, and quick cuts don't let you take everything in as easily as 2-D allows."

Would you do a marathon again? "The marathon as a whole was a fun experience. However, there's no way I'd do it again. A full-time job and a kid eat up too much time as it is, and I'm definitely not as young and capable of staying up ridiculously long stretches of time anymore."
