Got some last-minute gift shopping or errands to run? If you've left them until Christmas Eve, you're not totally out of luck — but time is of the essence.

Most businesses will be open, but many will be closing early, so take a look at this list before heading out on Tuesday.

Banks

Most will be open but close early. TCF Banks will close at 2 p.m. while campus branches at UMD and Coffman will be closed completely.

US Bank doesn't have Christmas Eve listed among the holidays it observes, so they should be open but check your local branch for hours, same goes forWells Fargo.

Post Offices

Your local post office should be open on Christmas Eve, though they will likely close earlier than usual – some as soon as noon – so check before you head out.

Mail will be delivered as usual on Dec. 24.

Transit

Metro Transit and regional Twin Cities transit providers will operate a reduced service on Christmas Eve, with routes following Saturday schedules, though some of the busier routes will have extra trips. Weekend fares will be charged.

The Northstar will be running, albeit also on a reduced service, with the standard charge applying.

You can find the Christmas Eve schedule here. If your route's not on the list, it won't be running on Christmas Eve.

Grocery stores

Most grocery stores will be open during Christmas Eve, but expect them to close early in the evening.

Whole Foods, for example, will have "modified hours," with the company advising shoppers to check their local stores ahead of time; meanwhile, Costco and Hy-Vee will close at 5 p.m (NOTE: Some individual Costcos may have different hours, so check with your local store).

Others, such as Cub Foods, may be open later, but check with your local store for hours. Target stores will also vary by location, while Walmart will be open till 8 p.m, per Good Housekeeping.

Malls

The Mall of America will also close at 6 p.m., as will the Southdale Center in Edina and the Eden Prairie Center, while the Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka will close at 5 p.m.

Check your favorite stores and malls for times.

Liquor stores

You'll have to check your local store for hours, but liquor stores are required by Minnesota law to close by 8 p.m. at the latest on Christmas Eve.

Pharmacies

Some CVS Pharmacy stores will be open. Go here to find one near you.

It's the same with Walgreens. Select stores will either remain open for 24 hours (if they're 24-hour stores) or will close at midnight. Find your local store here for hours.

Movie theaters

Most movie theaters stay open on holidays, though check your local cinema for hours.

Libraries

Most are closed.

Garbage and recycling pickup

Collections should go ahead as usual if your collection day is a Tuesday.

Parking meters

City-run parking meters will be enforced as usual on Christmas Eve in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
