It's deer hunting season in Minnesota but rescue workers in White Bear Lake were looking to save a young doe when it fell through thin ice early Sunday morning.
The city's police department posted photos of the incident to Facebook saying it happened on Priebe Lake off Riviera Drive North, noting that while the rescue took place a buck was waiting nearby.
The fire department used a wet suit and had someone walk through the ice and water to reach doe, then carrying it back to safety.
"Ultimately the doe was able to get out and run off," the police department said.
The Minnesota DNR notes that there should be at least four inches of ice before any ventures out on frozen water.
