Employees at Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls spent a good deal of their weekend making snow to ensure the best possible conditions for opening day of the skiing and snowboarding season were in place at the Minnesota venue.

The park opened Sunday for the first time this season. To start, the only hills that are open are the front stage and both tow ropes, which are part of the terrain park.

"Please check the snow report daily as things change rapidly this time of year," Wild Mountain posted to Facebook on Sunday.

The Oct. 21 opening is the fourth earliest in the park's history, according to WCCO

If they have enough snow and conditions allow them to stay open, the plan is to be open from 4-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
