Another bar with dozens of beers on tap is opening in downtown Minneapolis and you really don't want to miss the opening of this one, because you could win free french fries for a year.

HopCat – a craft beer bar and restaurant chain – is opening its first Minnesota location on July 29, and the first 200 guests will receive a card that's good for a free order of HopCat's infamous "crack fries" every week for a year.

Who knows if you'll have to camp out to be one of the first 200, but it might be worth it because these fries have some serious bragging rights, like being named on Food Network's list of America's 10 Best French Fries.

The (not so) secret: they're battered in light beer and sprinkled with black pepper seasoning. Some people order extra toppings, like cheese sauce, jalapeños, and onions.

Everyone who attends the grand opening celebration will get a free order of crack fries too.

There will also be 80 Minnesota beers and ciders on tap, "including rarities, one-offs and exclusives," HopCat says. The chain is known for having more than 100 beers on tap, plus bottle selections.

But you won’t find any Miller, Bud or Coors products on the beer list – HopCat says it doesn’t serve them "as part of its commitment to craft brewers."

As far as the rest of the menu, it's made up of "homemade pub favorites" like half-pound gourmet burgers, freshly made Detroit-style pizza, hand-dipped fish and chips, and build-your-own mac and cheese.

The 240-seat restaurant will be located on the ground floor of the Nic on 5th apartment building, which is right off the Green and Blue light rail lines.

The website says they're currently hiring experienced servers, bartenders and cooks along with hosts, bussers, dishwashers, security, barbacks and food runners. Email jobs@hopcat.com for more information.
