You can get free rides home from Metro Transit on New Year's Eve
If you're looking for a cheap way of getting to and from your New Year's Eve celebrations, Metro Transit rides are free of charge.
Free rides will start for all customers from 6 p.m. on Tuesday and continue until 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.
This includes all Metro Transit modes of transportation, including the buses, light rail and Northstar.
It also includes buses from the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and Anoka County Traveler.
The free rides are being sponsored by Miller Lite, in coordination with the J.J. Taylor Distributing Company.
It will offer a safer alternative to driving, with New Year's Eve a notorious night for drunk-driving, with 111 DWI arrests being made last New Year's Eve across the state, as well as 116 crashes.
