1 dead, 1 airlifted after car hits tree, starts on fire

One person was killed another person suffered life-threatening injuries when their vehicle crashed into a tree and started on fire. 

The Becker County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday about one mile north of Frazee on Hwy. 29. The car was traveling southbound when it left the roadway, striking a tree and then catching on fire. 

The driver and the passenger in the vehicle were airlifted to Sanborn Hospital in Fargo, where the driver was pronounced dead. The current condition of the passenger is unknown. 

The names of the victims are being withheld until all family members have been contacted about the crash. 

Frazee is located in Becker County about 10 miles southeast of Detroit Lakes.
