1 dead, 1 airlifted following head-on crash in Stearns County
A head-on crash in central Minnesota Wednesday night left one driver dead and another with life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol crash report says a Nissan Maxima and Ford Explorer collided head-on on Highway 15 just north of County Road 8 in Maine Prairie Township.
The driver of the Nissan, a 48-year-old Kingston man, died in the crash. His name has not been released. A 35-year-old St. Cloud man driving the Ford Explorer suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted by North Air Care to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The crash happened at approximately 8:36 p.m. in the rural area, which is located about 10 miles south of St. cloud.
The State Patrol noted in the crash report that road conditions included snow and ice.
