A wrong-way crash just before 5 p.m. Monday left one person dead and another seriously injured in Waconia.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2015 Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 5 when it collided head-on with a 2002 Chevy Silverado at Hartmann Drive.

The driver of the 2002 Silverado was killed in the crash. He's been identified as Michael Jon Clarkson, 45, of Rockford, Minnesota.

The wrong-way driver, a 57-year-old Cokato woman, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A driver and passenger in a Dodge Ram that rear-ended one of the trucks suffered non-life-threatening injuries and did not require treatment at a hospital.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the State Patrol notes.
