A 52-year-old woman from Jordan, Minnesota was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Shakopee on Tuesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Hwy. 169 about a half mile north of Canterbury Road in the northbound lanes when a 2003 Ford Explorer rear-ended a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan that was stopped in traffic behind a semi.

The collision pushed the minivan into the back of the semi.

Shane Jones, 52, of Jordan, a passenger in the minivan, was transported to St. Francis hospital where she died. The crash report from the state patrol says she was "improperly wearing her seatbelt," but explanation of that wasn't provided.

The driver of the minivan, a 57-year-old man from Jordan, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for care.

A 30-year-old woman driving the Ford Explorer was not injured, nor was the driver of the semi.
