One person is dead and another critically injured after a crash between a Cadillac Escalade and a Saturn car Wednesday in western Minnesota.

A crash report from the Minnesota State Patrol says the deadly collision involved alcohol and happened on Hwy. 59 at Park Ave. in Chippewa County, near the town of Watson.

The Escalade was traveling north on the highway at approximately 5:51 p.m. when the 1995 Saturn took a hard left turn in front of it, with the Escalade hitting the smaller car on the passenger side.

The passenger in the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 20-year-old Brittany Lynn Schulz, of Appleton, Minnesota.

Authorities detected alcohol on the driver of the Saturn, a 34-year-old man from New Effington, South Dakota. Anderson suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver and passenger, ages 34 and 18, respectively, in the Escalade suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the ER in Montevideo for care.
