1 dead, 1 critically injured in head-on crash near Thief River Falls

Two people were airlifted to hospitals after a head-on crash in northwest Minnesota Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision between a 2018 Nissan Frontier and a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee happened around 4:20 p.m. on Highway 219 in Marshall County. 

The crash report says the driver of the Nissan was southbound on the highway when it entered a curved, crossed the center line and collided with the Jeep near 340th Avenue in Eckvoll Township – northeast of Thief River Falls. 

The driver of the Nissan was airlifted to Altru Hospital in Grank Forks where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Kevin Arthur McCormick, 58, of Alexandria. 

A 43-year-old woman driving the Jeep was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo with life-threatening injuries.
