1 dead, 1 critically injured in head-on crash on Highway 169

A head-on crash in northern Minnesota left one person dead and another seriously injured early Sunday morning. 

The State Patrol reports that the driver of a Ford Explorer was eastbound on Hwy. 169 in Greenway Township, Itasca County, and crossed the centerline near Milepost 322 and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram. 

The driver of the Dodge Ram was killed in the collision and the driver of the Explorer sustained life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. 

The State Patrol says driving impaired may have been a factor in the crash. 

No further information has been released.
