1 dead, 1 injured after gunfire erupts south of Augsburg University in Minneapolis

The shooting happened two blocks from Augsburg, near the south side of I-94.

An apparent altercation involving a group of people resulted in gunfire that left one person dead and another wounded in Minneapolis Wednesday evening. 

Minneapolis Police Department reports that it received numerous 911 calls reporting a shooting at 6:26 p.m. on the 2300 block of E. Franklin Ave. While en route, officers were informed about a man suffering from a gunshot wound two blocks from the reported shooting, on the 2500 block of Riverside Ave. 

Officers helped the victim on Riverside while additional police were sent to the reported shooting on E. Franklin Ave. Once there, they found another man who'd been shot. He was treated by police and paramedics but ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. 

The man who was found on Riverside was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening. 

The identities of the gunshot victims have not been released. 

Investigators believe the group involved in the dispute knew each other, and police have since launched a homicide investigation. No arrests have been made.

The shooting occurred happened on a block that sits adjacent to Interstate 94, just a couple of blocks south of Augsburg University.
