1 dead, 1 injured after SUV driver crashes into bicyclists in west-central Minnesota

A third bicyclist was not hurt.

A bicyclist was killed and another was injured when an SUV crashed into them in Douglas County Tuesday evening. 

The preliminary investigation shows three bicyclists were traveling southbound on County Road 9 NE, south of Carlos, around 9:48 p.m. when the driver of a Lincoln Navigator, also going southbound, collided with two of the bicyclists, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

One cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and another was flown to the Hennepin County Medical Center. The third cyclist was not hurt. 

The victims have not been identified. 

The 24-year-old Parkers Prairie man who was driving the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, the sheriff's office said.
