An ATV crash just south of the Minnesota border left one man dead and another injured Monday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened around 10:10 p.m. in a farm field west of Forest City near 340th Street and 160th Avenue. Forest City is located about 10 miles from the Minnesota border.

Authorities say the ATV went off a terrace and rolled, with 49-year-old Jon West, of Forest City, tossed from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old who was also on the ATV – it's unclear who was driving – was airlifted to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
