1 dead, 2 critically injured in van crash in southwest Minnesota
A single-vehicle crash in southwest Minnesota was fatal for one passenger while the driver and another passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.
The crash happened just after 9 p.m. Monday on hwy. 67 in Minnesota Falls Township, which borders the southern edge of Granite Falls in Yellow Medicine County.
The State Patrol crash report says the driver of a 2003 Dodge Caravan was eastbound on Hwy. 67 when it crossed the center line and gradually drove into the ditch and kept going for about 100 yards before hitting a tree head on.
A passenger in the vehicle died after being transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. She has been identified as Kasandra Lee Krumm, 30, of St. Cloud.
The driver, a 39-year-old Hopkins man, was transported to Sioux Falls Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Another passenger, a 59-year-old Granite Falls woman, was taken to Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries.
None of the three people involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.
