Police in Bloomington are investigating a fatal overdose at a local hotel.

One man was found dead and another was revived using the opioid reversal drug naloxone at a room in the Super 8 Hotel at 7800 2nd Avenue South in the early hours of Thursday.

Police had been called to a report of an unconscious man in the restroom lobby at the hotel, with police able to eventually get the man – a 36-year-old from Minneapolis – to talk. He was then taken by ambulance to Fairview Southdale.

When they got to the room he had been staying in, there was no response at the door.

An officer went outside and looked through the window. Inside were two unconscious men.

Police went through the window, and found a 35-year-old man from Lake Elmo dead. A 25-year-old man from Inver Grove Heights was still breathing and revived using Naloxone.

He was taken to Fairview Southdale as well. The death of the Lake Elmo man is now being investigated.

It comes amid a spate of overdoses reported by St. Paul police, which says it has attended 28 suspected ODs in the past six days, of which 2 were fatal.

Many of those who overdosed responded to Naloxone, the Pioneer Press reports.
