1 dead, 2 injured in tree-cutting accident in southern Minnesota

One person died and two others were injured while trimming a tree near the City of Austin in southern Minnesota. 

The fatal accident happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday on the 58000 block of 20th St., according to the Mower County Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies and first responders arrived at the scene and found two men, ages 63 and 77, injured after falling approximately 30 feet while trimming a tree. The 63-year-old man died from his injured and the 77-year-old was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester with serious injuries. 

Citing emergency dispatch audio, the Star Tribune reports that a truck with a bucket attacked to a boom tipped over. 

A third person was trapped underneath equipment and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The identities of those involved have not been released.
