Details are limited but one person was killed in a crash on Interstate 35 north of the Twin Cities metro area late Friday night.
The fatal crash happened around 11:25 p.m. on I-35 near Wyoming in Chisago County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash report explains that the driver of a Cadillac was southbound on the interstate and rear-ended a Ford Econoline van at a high rate of speed. The van rolled into the ditch and the driver was ejected.
Lisa Marie Torell, 49, of Braham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cadillac went off the road but did not roll. The driver, identified as a 52-year-old South St. Paul woman, was airlifted to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The State Patrol says alcohol was involved in the crash.
