One victim was found inside a home following a fire in Miltona on Sunday.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received two calls about a house fire at an address on 1st Street just before 6 a.m. Sunday. The complainant said there were visible flames and smoke coming from the two-story residence.
Miltona, Parkers Prairie and Carlos fire departments were dispatched to the scene, the sheriff's office said. Upon arrival, officials learned that the structure was occupied. Miltona Fire Department officers gained entry to the home and located one victim.
The victim was removed from the home but was showing no signs of life. After unsuccessful resuscitation attempts, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Victim identification will be withheld under family can be notified.
