A 52-year-old man was killed in a boat crash on the east side of Otter Tail Lake on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, Neil Baker, 52, of Elysian was out boating with family. When they returned to the dock around 3:23 p.m., Baker and his wife remained on the boat to organize things and secure it to the dock when another boater, a 73-year-old man from Roseville, hit the parked boat at a "high rate of speed," throwing Baker and his wife from their boat into the water.
Initial reports indicated Baker was unaccounted for, but by the time first responders arrived at the 30000 block of State Highway 78 several neighbors had found him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of his wife was not released.
The 73-year-old man, who lives directly north of the Baker's lake property, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.
The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff's office said.
As of July 5, seven people died in boating-related incidents this year, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says.
