1 dead in crash that shut down Highway 7 in Victoria

One person was killed in a crash involving a truck and an SUV in the west metro Monday morning. 

The crash happened on Hwy. 7 near Hawks Point Road in Victoria around 8:20 a.m., resulting in the highway being closed in both directions for hours. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 49-year-old Julie A. Lizak, of Excelsior, was driving a 2018 Chevy Suburban westbound on the highway when she crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound international truck.

Lizak died at the scene, the State Patrol said. The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Glencoe man, suffered minor injuries in the collision. 

No further information has been released.
