1 dead in head-on crash in central Minnesota

The crash happened on a highway on the northeast side of Serpent Lake.

One person died in a crash in central Minnesota on Wednesday morning. 

According to a Minnesota State Patrol, a 2009 Chrysler 300 was eastbound on Hwy. 6 when it collided head-on with a 2006 Chevy Malibu that crossed over the center line near Black Lake Road. 

The driver of the Chrysler 300, identified as Barbara Jo Blood, 70, of Crosby, died in the crash. The driver of the Malibu, a 54-year-old man from Crosby, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. 

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, which happened just north of Deerwood, about 20 miles northeast of Brainerd in Crow Wing County.
