1 dead in head-on crash west of the Twin Cities

A man was killed and a woman was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital with multiple injuries following a head-on crash in Wright County Tuesday night. 

The collision happened just before 9:30 p.m. on County Road 35 near Eaken Ave. NE in Buffalo Township. According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a 2005 Chevy Malibu was headed east on County Road 35 when she crossed the center line and struck a westbound Ford Windstar van. 

The driver of the van, identified as Gary Wagner, 60, of Buffalo, was found unresponsive in his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. 

A 26-year-old River Falls, Wisconsin, woman was trapped in the Malibu she was driving and required extrication by the Buffalo Fire Department. She was taken by LifeLink helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where her current condition is unknown. 

The sheriff's office notes that "there have been no arrests and no charges filed at this time." 

The crash remains under investigation.
