1 dead in late-night shooting in St. Paul

The man who called 911 was detained for questioning.

An investigation is underway after a shooting left a man dead in St. Paul late Wednesday night. 

St. Paul Police Department says officers were called to the 800 block of Rice Street at around 11 p.m. on a report of a man being shot.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim to Regions Hospital for treatment, but he did not survive. 

The man who called 911 to report the shooting was detained and brought to police headquarters for questioning. 

Two guns were recovered and a forensics unit is processing the scene as part of the investigation. 

The victim's identity will be released at a later time by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
