1 dead in St. Paul shooting, the city's 6th homicide of 2019

A homicide investigation is underway in St. Paul after a shooting inside a home early Friday morning. 

According to St. Paul Police Department, the shooting took place on the 600 block of Elfelt Street, followed by a 911 call around 4 a.m. indicating shots fired inside a home an done person injured. 

Police arrived at the scene and were told by witnesses that a man had been shot and was taken to Regions Hospital in a private vehicle. 

Medical staff attempted life-saving measures but the man did not survive. 

Witnesses have been interviewed by homicide investigators and a Forensics Services Unit is at the scene of the shooting, collecting evidence with hopes of finding out what led to the shooting and who pulled the trigger. 

The victim's identity will be released by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. 

There have now been six homicides in St. Paul this year. There were 15 homicides in St. Paul in 2018, which was down from 22 in 2017.
