One man has died and another is in a life-threatening condition after separate motorcycle crashes in Minnesota over the weekend.

In Clearwater County, a 26-year-old man from Solway, Minnesota, died after a crash on County Road 2 just south of Leonard in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was found dead at the scene, with the incident still under investigation by the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.

Then on Sunday, a man sustained life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle accident in Minneapolis, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

At around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, 53-year-old Anthony Stoffel from Richfield was traveling northbound on I-35W when he lost control around Diamond Lake Road and hit a wall.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Stoffel was wearing a helmet and road conditions were dry.

According to June data from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, 11 Minnesota motorcyclists died on roads in early summer compared to 14 the same time in 2018. Eight of those 11 deaths were motorcyclists who were not wearing helmets.
