1 killed, 2 injured when the house they were moving fell on them

One of the northern Minnesota men was trapped under it.

One northern Minnesota man was killed and two others were injured when the house they were moving onto a new foundation fell on them, authorities said Monday.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's office said in a statement that jacks, wooden posts, and cement blocks were supporting the small home when it fell on Sunday.

The sheriff's office says it happened in Shotley Township, which is about 60 miles north of Bemidji on the south shore of Upper Red Lake.

Joshua O'Brien, 25, of Blackduck was trapped under the house when it fell, the statement says.

A fire and rescue crew from Kelliher was able to get O'Brien out but the lifesaving efforts of an ambulance team from Blackduck were not successful.

The two injured men are Christopher O'Brien, 52, of Blackduck and Matthew Hjelden, 49, of Cloquet.

The sheriff's office did not have information on their conditions. They say Christopher O'Brien was airlifted to a Grand Forks hospital, while Hjelden left the scene in a private vehicle to get medical attention.
