A crash involving a police car in Minnetonka killed a driver late Tuesday, the The Star Tribune reports.

The Pioneer Press says a 2010 Crown Victoria with lights and sirens activated on an emergency call hit a 1988 BMW sedan at the intersection of Excelsior Boulevard and Woodland Drive at about 9:30 p.m., citing the Minnesota State Patrol.

It was a Minnetonka squad car and the BMW driver who was killed was 52, and not wearing a seat belt, the Star Tribune says. The 28-year-old officer suffered non-life threatening injuries, the newspaper says. The BMW was required to yield the right of way but cut into the squad car's path, a Minnesota State Patrol official said.
