1 man killed, another injured in early morning St. Paul shooting

Police described it as a "chaotic scene" involving around 20 people.

A homicide investigation is underway in St. Paul following a double shooting that left one man injured, and another man dead early Saturday morning.

It happened at a residence on the 400 block of Maryland Avenue East, which is near the city's Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

According to a news release, police were called to the scene at around 3:30 a.m. after "911 calls poured into the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center" and found a "chaotic scene involving more than 20 people."

Two of those people were gunshot victims; one was transported to Regions Hospital with non-fatal injuries, while the other died at the scene.

No arrests have been made, but the homicide and forensics units were on the scene, and around 20 possible witnesses were taken to the police department's headquarters by bus, the release says.

The victim has not been identified yet.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call St. Paul police at 651-266-5650.

This is city's the third homicide so far this year.
