A shooting that happened early Saturday morning in Austin, Minnesota left one person dead and several others injured.
According to Austin Police Department, gunfire erupted on the 100 block of 12th Street Northeast around 1:10 a.m., with a 911 caller reporting the shooting and several victims.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the man died at the scene.
Police later learned that more people were injured in the shooting, though specifics about how many people were shot and what their conditions are have not been released.
“Based on evidence and witness interviews the police believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety," Captain Todd Clennon said.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
